Minutes of the Meeting held on May 3rd.

• Hi Everyone,Its probably late in the day,but I still thought we should have the points that were discussed, put on record.So here goes:
  
  1)I mentioned we should put our poems and writing onto the MWC blog-as that way others could correct and write comments on it.It would also help in showing possible publishers etc. 2)What gives one inspiration to write-probably the love of writing and the love of words, as also writing is a form of therapy.We also discussed on how good writing does influence others.
  3) Writing also needs appreciation and criticism in equal measure ,but we writers are sensitive as well so criticism from the right kind of people is also important.However ,ultimately what matters is the strength of our faith and belief in our own writing.4)One of the most important aspects of writing-Writers Block was discussed. How to overcome it. By writing and writing-if we take a long sabbatical it gets tougher to get back to it. Sometimes getting back to the place, events etc-often gives us a deeper understanding and therefore better writing skills.
  5)Another point about topics to write was writing on everyday living, writing about life as we see and experience like morning routines, everyday travels by public transport etc.
  6) This took us to the next point of the importance of Research-before writing-as it is so easy to scribble anything which will then be neither convincing or interesting.How we tend to procrastinate when we have to do research on any topic and then blame that procrastination on Writers Block..:)
  7)Members have been asked to be on the lookout for sites ,newspapers,magazines etc.that offer writing competitions of any type such as the recently closed Commonwealth Short Story Competition.Merinews.com is a site that wants news-based articles for whoever is interested in such kind of writing.
  8) A poll was taken for conducting the meetings once a month versus twice a month. We have decided that we will try with the twice a month format for a couple of months to assess the response.So starting this month there will be a 2nd meeting in the 3rd weekend of the month.
  9)A few disciplinary pointers that need to be mentioned here and have to be followed-
  
  Attendance for any 1 of the 2 monthly meetings is mandatory.
  If you do not attend 3 consecutive mandatory meetings, you will not be part of the club activities. You only get to attend the meetings to listen to other's discussion.You cannot expect your writing to be discussed or commented on.

I believe I have covered most of the points. Any comments ,suggestions on the points mentioned here,are welcome.
