The Moon

The moon gently wakes up
The dreaming earth
And at daybreak returns staggering
Drunk with her thirst

  2. Thank you for your comments.
I think that there broadly are two kinds of poetry. One is the descriptive kind, where you keep on adding beauty to a simple idea (your imagination) through your words. The second one is, you have a very powerful idea, clear-cut imagination which you want to put across. Words are irrelevant in this case. So you write a short, idea-packed poem. I remember the quote “Words are the dress of thought”. You need not dress up someone too much if that person is presentable even without dressing up. Yet we cannot condemn the descriptive type because the simplest ideas can be made extremely beautiful by (and only by) a master of words
