My first Quatrain(A 4 Lines poem)
The Fairies Arrive
Fairies stood by the door,
In the breaking dawn
With loving arms,
The day I was born…

I started to scream!

THIS ONE GOT PUBLISHED IN OPEN SESAME, MONTHS AGO! I WILL SHARE IT WITH YOU ALL!

I always wear my raincoat
Usually in the rain,
Sometimes in my bathroom,
Sometimes in a moving train.
The color of my raincoat is blue
And it has a big hole that,
Anyone can see through.
So I better fix it up with some glue!
Or I'll catch a deadly flu,
With all those dew!
Without my raincoat,
I cannot go out
I can never,
Or my mom would shout!
After all I just love my raincoat.
It's the best thing in the whole world

I HAD A GOOD IDEA FOR A CHILDREN'S BOOK. I THOUGHT OF THIS PLOT! I WANT ALL YOUR OPINIONS!
The Dino In The Fridge
There are things which you can never believe when heard or said! But you will definitely agree, when you witness it! A disastrous thing happened to me today and after reading that, you will end up surprised yourself!
They say that, In eating there exists a thing such as safe-eating and from now on I would eat my snacks safe—that is without using my fridge!
Today, at four, I was very hungry and I went into the kitchen to open the fridge. I had a very large red-color fridge at home, where I keep my candies and butter! I put my hand and opened it and OH MY GOD! I couldn’t believe my eyes when a tiny dinosaur put its head out and asked “Are you ready for Supper?”
Now, should I speak to him and say “I am human being! What are you?” or should I rather sniff and say “How in the name of Eureka did you get into my fridge?–So please do remember---Never trust a dinosaur to watch your food!

This story of mine got published in the Times School Newspaper, before 2 months. It was titled 'The Beautiful Mermaid'.However I edited it again and sought the help of one of my online friends who changed the ending slightly..
In the 21st century there erupted a world of science and creation and there came a time, when all the sea creatures including the fairies became united and were very friendly towards each other. Happiness was all around the ocean. But little did the forest animals and human beings know that all the joy around the ocean was due to a singing mermaid who sang by the shore.
The sea- kingdom and all the sea creatures would flock together to hear her beautiful voice. Nature responded to her voice, by supplying cool breezes. Her voice was so excellent and melodious that even the heavens spilled gold and the tides descended. Celestia was her name and as to the origin of her name, she was from the celestial world. Her body was in pink and she wore the most glamorous clothes. The eel always sat near her to hear her songs and the nightingale in the tree was always jealous of her voice.
As time passed by, the mermaid earned name and fame throughout the sea-kingdom. But alas! A day grew near when the mermaid's voice started to weaken. Her voice lost the glorifying touch. The melody in it disappeared. And soon, the voice sounded screeching. "O ye Celestia of Splendor and magnificence, what happened to your beautiful voice?" asked the eel. The mermaid now couldn't even raise her voice to speak. She knew that she had become dumb. Very soon, everybody avoided her. The eel swam away. The nightingale flew away. The heavens stopped pouring gold and the tides raised and fell. The mermaid dejected with life and her voice, decided that she should end her life. She lost all her power and magic. Such was the plight of the beautiful mermaid.
The land of the mermaids, and all the other lands, for that matter, mourned the loss of Celestia. The trees began to grow weak and children could not climb, the flowers began to wither, so no butterfly was fed, and the seas dried up. "Why has our Celestia left us?" asked the fairies. "Now nobody can sing the children to sleep." " I can." said the nightingale. "I have memorized all Celestia's glamorous songs and tunes. And with that, the nightingale began to sing. Everyone listened as the nightingale began to sing, but the nightingales voice did not come out, Celestia's did. "You've stolen Celestia's voice!" cried the mermaids. "You were so jealous, you cast a spell on her and made her lose her voice! Shame!" And then, the nightingale began to cry. "All I wanted was peace!" "It was more peaceful with Celestia. Now youv'e killed her." said the crowd.
And with that, they cast a spell on him! "You shall be made to sing for the rest of your life. Humans will listen to you in their back yards, they will tell you 'sing more!' They will make you sing until you can't any longer, and then Celestia will get her revenge by watching you wither." And that is why nightingales have such a beautiful voice, the voice of Celestia.

YELLOW BALLOONS
A two part story
By Srinidhi.R and Farfinagle
Roger loved the way she said “balloon”. She said it as if she were blowing bubbles. Elaine wanted to buy balloons for her daughter Lizzie’s birthday. She had woken up at 8 in the morning and had rushed to the shop, without even taking a shower. She imagined colorful balloons as she walked past the roads, which were exposed to traffic. The shopkeeper had just opened the shop and he heard her scream “balloon!” Lizzie was asleep when she came home. “Hey darling, look what Mommy bought!” she cried out loud, reaching home. “Oh!” her husband burst in, “you should have bought the pink balloons, too.” “Never mind, Roger,” she let out a sigh. “But they are all the same. I decided finally.” Then, she went and woke Lizzie. “Happy birthday, Lizzie!” she said, waking her. Lizzie got up, rubbing her eyes, and screamed. “Wow! Those balloons are lovely!”
She tightly clutched the bunch of curled ribbons tied to the balloons in one small hand as she made her way down the hall. Morning sunlight spilled in from the kitchen window, illuminating their bright yellow color. “Look Mommy,” she exclaimed, “they’re just like the sun!” “And so are you, my love,” Elaine replied. Lizzie was their only child, a wondrous gift that had arrived against all odds. She and Roger had tried to conceive for two years when she finally broke down and went to the doctor. The news had been devastating. She was informed that her likelihood of having a child was slim to none. Several more years had gone by. She and Roger had resigned themselves to being a childless couple when she learned that she was expecting. The pregnancy had been uneventful. Lizzie arrived exactly eight months and two days later, a small miracle with downy, light brown hair and pink rosebud lips. For both of them, it was love at first sight.
Lizzie didn’t want to let go of the balloons for fear they would float away. Elaine helped her tie them to an empty chair. “Mommy, can I show my friends my little suns?” The description made Elaine smile. “Oh, I think so,” she replied, “but let’s have some breakfast first, okay?” Her small daughter nodded enthusiastically, digging into her bowl of Cheerios. Roger soon finished his coffee and morning paper, and was off to work. After Lizzie was dressed, Elaine helped her tie the yellow balloons securely around one wrist. “There you go, Sweetie,” she said. “Don’t be gone too long. Remember, we’ll start your party after lunch.” Lizzie seemed unconcerned. “Okay, Mom,” she said simply. Then she was out the door, trailing the daffodil colored orbs behind her.
Elaine busied herself with the dishes and housecleaning. She didn’t think too much of the time passing until the hands on the kitchen clock read 11:30. Where was Lizzie? It was unlike her to stay away so long, especially since she knew her birthday party would be starting soon. Minutes ticked by, with Elaine growing more and more concerned. What could have happened? A panicked feeling began to overcome her. She slipped on her tennis shoes and was about to leave the house when she heard the screen door bang. There was her Lizzie, sansballoons. And she was crying. “Honey, what happened? Are you okay?” asked Elaine, alarm rising in her voice.
Lizzie came over to her and buried her face in her mother’s side. Tears streaked her cheeks as she spoke between choked sobs. She had started out a half dozen balloons. When she met Mr. Taylor, their postman, she had given him one. Then she had shared one with Tommy from next door. On she had gone down the street, randomly giving her small pieces of sunshine to special friends and neighbors. She saved her last balloon for Granny Em, who was the dearest one of all. Elaine and Roger had both lost their parents at a young age. Granny Em came to their rescue when Lizzie was only a baby. She had watched over her when Elaine returned to her part time job. Em had been a doting guardian and more. She became a grandmother who took the place of others Lizzie would never know.
Lizzie took in some deep, hitching breaths and continued. “And when I got to Granny’s front porch, there were strange people inside. A man came out and told me that Granny had passed on, and then I said: passed on towhere? He gave me a funny look then, Mommy. And he told me Granny haddied!” Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks as Elaine folded her into her arms and rocked her. They sat that way for quite some time until Lizzie quieted and lay limp and exhausted on her lap. Elaine thought she might be asleep, but she spoke in a quiet voice. “Mommy, I don’t want a party. Maybe I can have a birthday, later, okay?” This almost broke her heart. Tears threatened to spill from her own eyes. She steadied herself, trying to sound calm. “I understand how you feel, Honey,” she said. “We can postpone it for a couple of days if you want.” Lizzie looked up at her and nodded slowly. Elaine smoothed damp curls from her forehead. Then she remembered the last yellow balloon.
“Honey, what happened to the last balloon?”
“Well, I couldn’t give it to Granny Em at her house,” she said softly. “The man told me that Granny had been sick and she couldn’t stay. He said she went to be with God. You know, up in heaven.” Elaine nodded her agreement. Lizzie sighed. “I was so sad that I couldn’t give it to her,” she said. “But then, I had an idea. If Gran was up in heaven, I could still send it to her. So, I asked God to take really, really good care of my Granny. And I let it go to her. Do you think it can fly all the way there?”Hot tears spilled from Elaine’s eyes as she hugged her small daughter in a tight embrace. Lizzie looked up, concerned. “Mommy, don’t cry! Did I do something wrong?”
No, Love,” she replied in a shaky voice. “You did everything right.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t save one for you, Mom,” said Lizzie. It was a few minutes before Elaine could answer. Then she looked into Lizzie’s wide brown eyes. “Sweet girl, I don’t need one of your “little suns”. You see, I already have one. Granny Em would be proud. She’ll be very happy when her balloon arrives.”Then she kissed her small daughter tenderly on the forehead. “C’mon,” she said, “let’s have some ice cream, okay?” “Okay!” said Lizzie, brightening. Elaine stood up, holding tightly to her own little sun, this daughter who gave her so much light. She thought of the last balloon, then. In her mind’s eye, it was floating in the azure sky, on its way to Granny Em. And God....
Kids journal 1 will be posted soon. There is some problem in posting that...
Its tea time children! have some tea and read this poem about teatime..
Tea time
Eh! Come on all out!
It’s tea time!
No time to shout!
Come on all out!
Let’s all drink lemon tea
Mama’s by the door
Grandpa sitting on the floor
And Dad’s got the whole tea
That he is going to pour
We all rush out
Grabbing the tea pots
And spilling the tea
On the ground
After we fought!
Oh dear!
There’s no more tea left!
Uh... No more tea pots!
Never mind!
We’ll all drink tea tomorrow
Well, there is much time we’ve got!

Henry’s First Adventure
A small sweet story I wrote for my creative writing class. I got an A for it. However it needs to be edited.....
In this funny adventure, Henry has a small trouble of a trespasser who had invaded his property--"His warren" and he fights to get his warren back encountering a deadly beast..
Once upon a time there lived a bunny named Henry, who lived in a warren far away in a big forest. He had long ears which jerked from side to side and his whiskers were so sharp. He looked like a small baby. He did not do any work other than nibbling carrots and grass and visiting all the places in the forest. Henry had a lot of friends but his best friend was none other than Olive. Olive was a female bunny who lived in the warren next to Henry. The two spent a lot of time together exploring the brook and the mountains. They loved their life and were very much exicted towards life.
One morning, Henry woke up on a cold, bright day yawning and shivering a little. He came out of his burrow and looked at the sky. He could see a bald eagle. He put on his overcoat, which looked a bit dirty. “What a good day for an adventure!” he exclaimed. Suddenly, he felt hungry and disappeared in to get some carrots from the fridge. He was shocked when he found that there was not even one left. “Goodness Gracious me! I forgot that I finished them all last night” he yelled. “I must get some from Olive.” He said and went out. In about five minutes he came back with the carrots, only to see a big, stout bunny seated in front of his burrow.
“Hey!” the stout bunny called, “No one is allowed in my property!”
“Your property! This is my house!” shouted Henry.
“No way! Mine now!” the stout rabbit pushed Henry away shouting aloud. Poor Henry! He fell down and hurt his knee. Henry had a long oral chat with that stout bunny, after that. “Trespasser! I will fix you” said Henry, at last and went out with a snort.
Biggly wolf had just finished his daily hunt. And he was unhappy because, he hadn’t found a single prey.Wailing,he sat down under a big fir-tree. He could see Henry at a distance walking towards him. Biggly had tried to catch Henry a lot of times but he was too quick. And now he was tired of hunting and catching. He sat down acting as if he was snoring, with a thought that Henry would come near him so that it would become easier to capture him. But Henry called out from a distance. “Mr. Biggly! I need your help!”
Surprised, the Biggly spoke, “Help! A help from a wolf! What would that be?”
“Listen!” Henry shouted,” I need your help in chasing a stout bunny out of my warren!”
“Aha!” the wolf spoke with a cunning smile, “And what would I expect in return?”
“You may eat that stupid intruder!” Henry muttered, winking. “I will be there in a short while!” the wolf declared dozing off.
That night the wolf came to Henry’s warren and shouted,” You there! Come out this instant!”
“Who is it?” the stout bunny yelled from inside the warren. “Give Henry his property!” the wolf yelled again, sniffing at the burrow. The bunny peeped out and was in a state of fear when he saw the wolf. Henry went in the warren and said “Will you give my property back? Or else shall I set the wolf on you?” The stout bunny got the shivers from his spine. His face turned dull. “Please don’t do that! Please chase this wolf away! I will give back your house!” he cried trembling. The wolf after hearing this knew that he would get nothing and pounced on both the bunnies, as they came out. But Olive who was hiding behind with a log of fire set fire to the wolf’s tail, which sent him fleeing away never to return again. “Excellent!” cried out Henry. Then the stout bunny started to apologize, “Sorry Henry! I was lazy to dig up my own warren! I learned a lesson that I shouldn’t intrude in anyone’s property again!” They went in and sat at their cute bunny table, drinking carrot juice. Henry and Olive forgave the stout bunny and the trio began to sing the old bunny song, which their mothers had taught them, as if it was a nursery rhyme.
‘'We are the bunnies from the east!
'We are the bunnies from the east!'
'And we would bravely destroy any wild beast!'
'In a short span of time but not the least!'
‘We are the bunnies from the east!'
'Now, we are all ready for a grand feast!’'
And thus they became close friends and had many adventures after that!

My first attempt at writing an American teen's play with American slang. I tried a french one last year. It worked out well. I refered to a lot of american slang and words to write this. I corrected many mistakes. It was a tough job...
When the Thunder Roars-
By Srinidhi.R
Cast of Characters
Max-the strong, tireless teen who isn’t scared of thunder
Kate-a coward, but a clever girl who has lots of pimples in her face
Cody- a young, dexterous teen who knows a lot about thunder
Dona- the prettiest woman in the group
(Kate is 16, The rest are all 17)
Time and Place
An old forest bungalow: Cody’s house
ACT 1
(The stage opens up, revealing four people seated on the sofa in a shabby room, filled with junk. The room has many pictures of nature on the wall. And the cuckoo clock starts to sing, when there is a loud bang of thunder, and it starts to rain; the deafening storm brings up fear on the faces of the children)
DONA
(Annoyed)
Oh God! Here it goes again! I’ll soon turn deaf!
MAX
Our whole idea of playing the football game goes bust!
KATE
Yeah! You can’t expect anyone to play a football game in this storm!
DONA
(After a moment)
The weather man made a good call about, when the storm would come.
Cody
(Disappointed)
Oh dear! I forgot to watch the news, today! I had the whole stupid idea of that football match in my mind! Never mind, we are losers now!
(Another heavy thunder strikes! The door creaked open slowly! The curtains get wet)
KATE
(With a cry)
Help! The atmosphere’s turned spooky this evening! I am getting scared!
MAX
(Grins)
Kate, you are such a wimp! There isn’t one damn thing to be scared of thunder!
KATE
(Gets up and walks to the window)
My dad says thunderclaps are very dangerous! Did you know that in United States, an average of 300 people are injured and 80 people are killed each year by lightening?
MAX
(Looks at others)
That’s pretty weird! Anyway, do you any of you guys know anything more about thunders?
CODY
(Gets up and moves)
Well I know a few things about thunder! I heard most of them from my dad! When a thunder strikes, we should first get into the house and avoid standing near any isolated tree in an open area. Inside, we should shutter all the windows and secure outside doors. Then we’ll be safe and sound!
DONA
(Looks at the watch)
You seem to know a lot! What else you know about thunders? I’m all ears!
CODY
I know an old poem about thunders by Emily Dickinson that I had for my school exam! I had memorized it to the core! It’s called “The farthest thunder that I heard”. Let me recite it for you,
(Cody Recites)
“The farthest Thunder that I heard
Was nearer than the Sky
And rumbles still,
though torrid Noons
Have lain their missiles by
--The Lightning that preceded it
Struck no one but myself
--But I would not exchange the Bolt
For all the rest of Life
--Indebtedness to Oxygen
The Happy may repay,
But not the obligation
To Electricity --
It founds the Homes and decks
the Days
And every clam
or brights but the gleam concomitant
Of that waylaying Light -
-The Thought is quiet as a Flake -
-A Crash without a Sound,
How Life's reverberation
Its Explanation found --
MAX/CODY/KATE
(Shouts out loud)
Cheers to Cody!
KATE
I’ll like to read some of her poems after reading this one! They’re just stunning!
CODY
(Joyfully)
It seems so guys, that whenever I read one of her poems I get transported to some other world! I forget myself and reality! I am going to be a poet, one day! Keep watching
DONA
(With a sigh)
A poet? Come on Cody; don’t blow all your brains for poetry! They are so boring! Duh!
(Cody ignores the comment and gets some fresh lemon juice for all. The thunder sounds becomes feeble. Everyone starts to drink)
CODY
(With a sip)
Do you guys remember the rhyme “Rain, Rain Go away?”
KATE
Aha! We’ll never forget that! Gawd! It’s getting too cold! I forgot to bring my sweater!
MAX
(After drinking the lemon juice)
Yummy! I love lemon juice!
DONA
They’re okay! You know, my mom makes the best cocktail, in the neighborhood!
MAX
She does? Cool!
DONA
Cocktail’s all good, when it’s raining, but certainly not during thunderstorms! I get hiccups, then! Jeez!
MAX
Oh man! It’s already six! It will get dark soon! I am tired of sitting in this sofa! Won’t God show us some mercy? When are we gonna play?
KATE
Do any of you guys agree to play game of dice?
DONA
Can we play snake and ladder? That’s my favorite game!
MAX
Sure! All ready to play!
(The four took the board game and started to play. The game went on for half an hour. Max won the game coming first and Dona came second.)
MAX
This game was cooler than I thought! I bet it’s better than playing football outside sweating all over or getting drenched!
CODY
(With a naughty smile)
I do think you’re right, your highness!
DONA
(Laughing)
I guess, Ronaldo would have forgotten football if he had played snake and ladder! HA!
(After placing the board in the cupboard, the children watch TV for some time)
CODY
(Laughing at Scooby)
I just love to watch Scooby doo! Look---He’s so funny!
KATE
(After a brief pause)
Shaggy’s much better than Scooby!
DONA
I stopped watching cartoons long ago.
(After 20 minutes)
KATE
(Looks out the window)
Wow! It stopped raining and there are no sign of thunders!
MAX
(Speaks with a cry)
Good Riddance Thunderstorms! We can all go out now!
CODY
(Switches off TV and opens the door)
I think we have already much more fun together, than playing football in the slippery ground! Let’s play indoor games frequently! And with regard to the football match, we’ll postpone it! And, Guess what? We just got a blessing in disguise!
KATE
And we also learned to fight the rain and the thunderstorms without fear! We also learned a good lot about thunderstorms, cocktails and poems. And we watched our favorite TV show too! We deserve a good applause!
DONA
(Turning to Max and Running)
Hey dude! Catch me if you can!
MAX
Wait till I get you! You little freak!
(The door closes slowly and they all rush out!)
END OF PLAY
